Importance of the right sample preparation of food samples for NIR spectroscopy

BestBuchi10_BUN.pdf

Several techniques for measuring quality parameters in food by using near infrared (NIR) technology have been reported. The aim of this experiment is to evaluate the ideal sample preparation tool in order to find the optimal measurement conditions for NIR analysis of meat samples.

NIR as a quality control tool in the ink and paint industry

BestBuchi08_BUI.pdf

NIR spectroscopy is a versatile, mature and non-destructive tool for the quality control and quality assurance in the ink and paint industry. It can be used simply for the identity control of incoming raw materials. However there are also much more advanced applications at various steps of the production process and of the finished products.

Optimized NIR results

BestBuchi07_BUI.pdf

Near infrared (NIR) technology has proven its worth and has become firmly established and widely acknowledged as a mature and non-destructive quality assurance method. With the current version of the chemometric software NIRCal, Büchi offers the NIR user a tool for automatic optimization of calibrations.

Vacuum control during vaporization of problematic solutions

BestBuchi06_BUE.pdf

Requirements for modern vacuum controls are increasing. In addition to various applications for use, a high rate of reproducibility is required even for complex processes and standard processes in the field of parallel chemistry. Flexible programming takes this into consideration and allows for automation of individual process steps.

Reducing the number of analyses by efficient sample preparation

BestBuchi05_BUN.pdf

Analytical techniques are on the fast track to quicker and more accurate results. The limiting step in the analytical pathway, particularly in food analysis, is sample preparation. The power of new analytical methods cannot be fully appreciated if preparation of the sample is not efficient. This article discusses the relevance of the mixing, grinding and homogenization process and their influence on the accuracy of the sample analysis.

Precise and fast quantification of flavour components in candy

BestBuchi04_BUI.pdf

Keeping the blending of candy constant is not so easy. NIRTAB - a Büchi NIR spectrometer, designed for the fast analysis of tablets in pharmaceutical industry - has successfully been introduced for this purpose at Ricola. NIRTAB ensures the fast control of the production process and thus for perfect and constant quality of Ricola products.

Efficiency in parallel and combinatorial chemistry

BestBuchi03_BUE.pdf

Parallel and combinatorial chemistry are established technologies for the creation of molecular diversity. Along with an increased compound production goes the need for parallel sample work-up and purification. At Polyphor Ltd., a Swiss start-up company providing libraries for customers in various fields, the increased demand for parallel evaporation was met by a new line of instrument, named Syncore®.

Identification with NIR in difficult cases

BestBuchi02_BUI.pdf

Identification methods based on NIR spectroscopy normally rely on principal component analysis (PCA). In many of the more trickier cases, PLS linear discriminant analysis has turned out as a superior method. This tool is made accessible by Büchi?s chemometric software NIRCAL and is recommended wherever small spectroscopic differences are hidden by various types of irrelevant strong variations in the NIR spectra.
