Spray drying and Encapsulation in the lab
Spray Drying is a unique method to convert a solution, suspension or emulsion into a solid powder in one single process step. It is a widely established process in many industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, chemical or material science.
The Encapsulator B-390 / B-395 Pro made by BUCHI Labortechnik AG are new systems for the immobilization of enzymes, drugs, flavours & fragrances, vitamins, oils, cells or microbes into a wide range of polymers. Uniform beads and capsules are produced. The bead diameter is pre-selectable in the range of 0.15 mm to 2 mm with a narrow standard deviation and a productivity of up to 6,000 beads per second.

These instruments are used for first trials, feasibility studies, parameter optimization and production of small powder batches. Now BUCHI sets a new light with the NEW, unique Nano Spray Dryer B-90. The Mini Spray Dryer B-290 can be extended to a closed-loop configuration with the Inert Loop B-295 to work safely with organic solvents under inert conditions. The pressure and oxygen concentration are permanently monitored.
The Dehumidifier B-296 is the versatile instrument of choice to condition the inlet drying air, to cool the gas for spray chilling or to work in closed mode with water/solvent mixtures.
